Hungarian Competition Authority investigates Déli Körvasút project
The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has launched an investigation regarding the Déli Körvasút investment project. The authority clarified that it had not previously received specific signals or information concerning this case from Hungarian state or government organizations, nor from European Union institutions.
According to the GVH, the contracting party for the investment has a legal obligation to report any observed behavior that violates competition rules. The authority noted that proactive communication regarding ongoing cartel investigations can jeopardize the effectiveness of such proceedings, as it may allow companies to destroy evidence. The GVH currently has 22 different cartel cases under investigation, covering approximately 1,800 tenders.
