Hungarian courts rule on Kisgazda Party registration and Fidesz‑KDNP defamation case
A Hungarian court corrected an administrative error that had mistakenly listed the original Kisgazda Party as dissolved. The court reinstated the party in the official registry and ordered that the later‑created splinter group be recorded as the erroneous entry. Party leader Balogh Károly said the decision paves the way for a claim of roughly 65 billion forints in damages tied to the loss of state funding and property that were transferred to the Torgyán‑led organisation in the 1990s.
Legal analyst Gábor Komlódi commented on a separate defamation case filed by the governing Fidesz‑KDNP alliance after social‑media user Bangó Sándor mentioned Semjén Zsolt as “Zsolti bácsi”. Komlódi suggested the filing may be more political fire‑fighting than a genuine legal move, explaining the procedural requirements for a defamation suit and noting that the parties might not be recognised as direct victims in the case.
