Hungarian Defence Forces to revert military unit names
Hungarian Defence Minister Ruszin-Szendi Romulusz has announced that various military units within the Hungarian Defence Forces will revert to their previous names and designations effective September 1. The minister confirmed he has signed the necessary amendments to the founding documents to facilitate this change.
The decision follows feedback from personnel regarding identity and traditions. According to the minister, soldiers requested to reclaim the names and unit numbers they held following the transition from the previous regime. The move is intended to restore historical unit traditions that serve as a moral framework for the troops.
Specific units receiving new designations include the 51. Nagy Sándor József Signal and Command Support Brigade, the 30. Pál Kinizsi Armored Infantry Brigade, and the 25. György Klapka Armored Brigade, among others including reconnaissance, technical, chemical defense, and engineer regiments.
