Hungarian Defence Minister Ruszin‑Szendi addresses newly sworn NCOs
Defence Minister Romulusz Ruszin‑Szendi spoke at the oath‑taking ceremony of nearly five hundred non‑commissioned officers at the Hungarian Defence Forces Academy in Budapest. He described the NCO rank as the "backbone" of the army and urged the newly sworn personnel to lead by example, use common sense and uphold the force’s integrity.
He pledged government support for the troops and their families, emphasizing transparency and the duty of soldiers to answer the call whenever their phone rings. The ceremony featured a ceremonial fly‑over by JAS‑39 Gripen fighters from the 101st Fighter Squadron and rotorcraft from the 86th Helicopter Squadron.
The minister’s remarks highlighted the long‑term commitment expected of service members and called for the NCOs to motivate and guide the soldiers under their command.
