Hungarian Defence Minister Romulusz Ruszin‑Szendi underscores V4 security ties and returns to reserve service

Defence Minister Romulusz Ruszin‑Szendi said the V4 defence ministers’ meeting in Budapest marked a new phase of Central‑European security cooperation. He noted consensus on threats from the east and south, illegal migration, defence‑industry strengthening and the Russia‑Ukraine war, and pledged continued joint action after any cease‑fire.

The minister also announced his personal reinstatement as a reserve parachutist in the Hungarian armed forces, having passed the medical test and confirming he will not claim reserve pay. He highlighted the symbolic importance of serving alongside comrades.

In a separate interview, Ruszin‑Szendi affirmed that the armed forces do not discriminate on the basis of skin colour, religion or gender, stating that physical capability, not gender, determines eligibility for service.
