Hungarian driver assaults teen cyclist after traffic honk
On August 6, 2026, a 53‑year‑old driver in the Balaton region deliberately attacked a 17‑year‑old cyclist after the cyclist responded to the driver’s honk. The driver first threw the car’s ignition key at a nearby fence and then punched the teenager, causing severe bodily injuries.
Police identified the suspect from surveillance footage and arrested him a few days later at a local holiday home. He offered no explanation for his actions. Authorities warned that traffic conflicts can quickly escalate to violent assaults and may lead to criminal prosecution.
