Fidesz parliamentary leader Gulyás Gergely posted that Education Minister Lannert Judit had spoken about eliminating the six‑ and eight‑grade high schools, suggesting the move would unsettle tens of thousands of students and families. Lannert responded on Facebook, saying she never advocated abolishing those schools and that Gulyás had misquoted her. She clarified that her interview with the student magazine Balzac focused on examining the high‑school admission system, which she said places a heavy burden on children and parents, and argued that the issue merits societal discussion. Lannert also dismissed Gulyás’s reference to “communism,” noting that the current centralized system was reinstated under the past 16 years of the Fidesz government.

Separately, on Teacher’s Day Lannert posted a video message thanking teachers, emphasizing the need for a performance‑evaluation system that offers constructive feedback rather than punitive scoring, and calling for respect of teachers’ autonomy and professional development.
