Hungarian Fidesz Party Adds Hortay Olivér and Palóc André to Parliamentary Faction

Hortay Olivér, head of the energy and climate policy unit at the Századvég think‑tank, and Palóc André, former spokesperson for the Ministry of National Economy, have confirmed they will join the Fidesz‑KDNP parliamentary faction at the invitation of faction leader Bóka János. Both were placed on the party’s 2026 national list (positions 222 and 210) and said they intend to bring professional expertise to parliamentary debates, which they say have become increasingly personal and lacking substantive policy discussion.

Both men warned that recent economic trends in Hungary are cause for concern: stalled investments, slowing growth, rising fuel prices and emerging chaos in the electricity supply. Their entry follows recent departures from the faction, including ministers Szijjártó Péter and Budai Gyula, signalling a reshuffle within the ruling party’s parliamentary group.
