Hungarian football clubs appeal disciplinary sanctions

Two Hungarian football clubs are facing disciplinary actions following incidents on the pitch. ETO FC has filed an appeal against a suspension handed to Umathum Roland, the U16 national team captain and professional player. The Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) suspended the young talent until February 15 following a red card received during a match against a Lithuanian youth team. ETO argues that while the player apologized and the act was not intentional, the four-month ban is disproportionate and could hinder his professional development and education.

Separately, Király SE is dealing with the suspension of veteran midfielder Péter Halmosi. The MLSZ Disciplinary Committee issued a four-match ban to the 47-year-old former national team player after he received a second yellow card during a match against 1908 SZAC Budapest. The club has described the circumstances of the red card as debatable. Head coach László Hegyi noted that the team faces further challenges due to multiple player absences caused by injuries and personal commitments ahead of their upcoming match against Komárom VSE.
