Hungarian Football Federation issues major disciplinary sanctions

The Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) Disciplinary Committee has issued significant sanctions following separate incidents in the Hungarian top flight.

Kisvárda FC defender Bálint Oláh has been suspended from NB I matches until November 30, 2026. The decision follows an incident during a match against Nyíregyháza Spartacus FC on August 15, where Oláh elbowed opponent Róbert Tarcsi. The impact resulted in Tarcsi suffering broken facial bones and orbital fractures, with potential permanent injury. Oláh has issued an apology for the incident.

Separately, Vasas FC has been ordered to play a home match behind closed doors following racist and discriminatory expressions by supporters during an away match against Kispest-Honvéd. In line with the MLSZ zero-tolerance policy, the club also faces a fine and the activation of a previously suspended six-month stadium closure. Vasas FC has distanced itself from the discriminatory behavior and noted the financial and competitive impact of these penalties.
