Hungarian Football Federation secures NB I broadcasting deal with MTVA

The Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) has reached an agreement with the public media service, MTVA, to retain the broadcasting rights for the NB I football league. The deal, valued at 6 billion forints, was finalized outside of a standard tender process after multiple attempts to hold a competitive bidding process failed to yield results.

Reports suggest the agreement may have been influenced by political decisions, involving discussions with representatives from the Ministry of Interior's sports state secretariat and the Ministry of Finance. While the Ministry of Finance stated it does not participate in decisions regarding media programming or procurement, the deal's duration until mid-2027 represents a long-term commitment.

The 6 billion forint price tag is notably lower than the 12.9 billion forints paid in 2025, though experts suggest the actual market value of the rights may be as low as 3 billion forints.
