Hungarian forint fluctuates amid energy risks and US economic data

The Hungarian forint experienced fluctuations against major currencies on Monday morning. In early trading, the euro was quoted at approximately 362.83 HUF, while the US dollar saw a slight decrease to 313.22 HUF. The Swiss franc also saw a minor decline to 386 HUF.

Market analysts point to several factors influencing the currency's movement. A strengthening euro against the dollar has traditionally benefited emerging market currencies like the forint. Additionally, recent US inflation and labor market data have led to lower expectations for interest rate hikes in the United States, weakening the dollar.

However, energy market risks remain a significant concern. Low water levels have impacted production at the Paks nuclear power plant, and rising European gas prices continue to exert cost pressures. Analysts suggest that regional electricity supply and energy market volatility remain key factors to monitor for the forint's stability.
