Hungarian gastronomy celebrates National Restaurant Week and Dining Guide awards

The Hungarian gastronomy sector is highlighting major industry events, including the 30th anniversary of the DiningCity National Restaurant Week and the upcoming Dining Guide awards gala.

Running from October 1 to October 18, the National Restaurant Week features 230 top restaurants across the country. For the first time in the event's history, a Michelin-starred restaurant, Costes, is participating. Participating establishments offer multi-course menus at fixed prices, ranging from 6,900 HUF for top-tier restaurants to 10,900 HUF for exclusive categories, with the Michelin-starred Costes offering a menu for 17,900 HUF.

Separately, the Dining Guide is preparing to announce its annual awards. The guide, which has evaluated Hungarian restaurants since 2005, uses anonymous testers to assess criteria such as ingredient quality, culinary technique, service, and value for money. The awards recognize excellence through various categories, including the Restaurant of the Year and the 'Best of the Best' designation for establishments that maintain consistently high standards. Recent notable recipients include Pajta, which received the Restaurant of the Year title, and Platán Gourmet, which led the TOP10+2 rankings.
