The Hungarian government has launched a wide-ranging investigation into the 4iG company and its relationship with the state. Minister István Kapitány stated that the probe aims to examine instances where state funds were used to facilitate the purchase of state assets. The investigation will cover state orders, financing, and specific transactions involving Antenna Hungária, Vodafone, and defense-related contracts.

Simultaneously, the selection process for the leadership of the newly established National Asset Recovery and Protection Agency (NVVH) is underway. The agency, which is expected to employ approximately 200 people, will operate alongside the prosecution to recover public assets and investigate corruption. The NVVH president will hold a rank equivalent to the Prosecutor General.

Following a large pool of applicants—96 for the presidency and 68 for deputy roles—the Parliamentary Committee on Justice and Constitutional Affairs has identified three candidates for the presidency: Miklós Ligeti, Anna Róza Unger, and Dávid Jancsics. The final selection will be made by the Hungarian Parliament through a secret ballot. The agency is expected to begin its operations this autumn, with officials expressing hope that significant asset recovery cases will commence by the end of 2026.
