Hungarian government reallocates 4.1 billion forints in budget
The Hungarian government has decided to reallocate more than 4.1 billion forints within the 2026 budget. According to the Magyar Közlöny, these one-time adjustments involve redistributing funds from the Central Residual Settlement Fund.
Key recipients of the reallocation include:
• Disaster management, which will receive nearly 1.5 billion forints. • The social and child protection system, receiving 493 million forints (allocated toward renovations, investments, and operations). • The Bethlen Gábor Fund, receiving 1.03 billion forints for national policy purposes. • Sustainability tasks, receiving 400 million forints.
Additionally, approximately 589 million forints will be transferred from the Ministry of Education and Children's public education support budget to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Culture to increase funding for minority support. Other allocations include 30 million forints for the development of the Gubacsi bridges and the Corvin junction, and 72.6 million for administrative expenses of the Ministry Responsible for a Living Environment. The decision concerns the reallocation of budget appropriations rather than immediate cash payments.
