Hungarian health experts advise age‑specific breakfast and sleep for brain health
Nutrition specialists in Hungary explain that the optimal breakfast changes with age. For people in their 30s, they recommend meals rich in protein, fibre and healthy fats – such as Greek yoghurt with fruit and nuts, oatmeal with seeds, or whole‑grain toast with eggs – to sustain energy and concentration. Over‑50s should focus on preserving muscle mass, increasing protein intake through eggs, cottage cheese or high‑protein yoghurt, and adding vegetables and whole grains.
A separate large Hungarian‑based study of more than 23,000 middle‑aged and older adults found three sleep patterns linked to accelerated brain ageing: sleeping less than the recommended 7–9 hours, frequent daytime napping, and regular insomnia. Participants with these habits showed more white‑matter lesions, a marker associated with higher dementia risk.
Both pieces highlight lifestyle choices that can influence long‑term cognitive health.
