Hungarian health experts highlight avocado benefits and hidden sugars in common foods

American cardiologist Dr. David Sabgir says that eating avocado regularly can help lower "bad" LDL cholesterol and support blood‑pressure control because the fruit is rich in monounsaturated fats and potassium. In an observational study of more than 110,000 people, participants who ate at least two servings of avocado per week had a 16 % lower risk of cardiovascular events and a 21 % lower risk of coronary‑artery disease compared with those who rarely ate the fruit.

Nutrition specialists caution that many products marketed as healthy—such as flavored yogurts, granola, fruit juices, protein bars and blended smoothies—often contain high amounts of added sugar. They urge consumers to read ingredient labels, choose whole fruit over juice, and be aware that sugar can be hidden even in “fit‑snack” items.
