Hungarian IKARUS Electric wins Macedonia electric‑bus and charger tender

Macedonia’s Public Procurement Commission selected the joint bid of Hungarian firm IKARUS Electric Zrt and Austrian energy company EVN as the lowest‑price offer for 150 electric buses and 75 charging stations. The electronic auction produced a winning price of 3,120,956,004 denars (≈19,796,924 denars per bus and 2,018,899 denars per charger, net of VAT).

The contract obliges the consortium to deliver the vehicles and chargers in three phases: 30 buses and 15 chargers within six months, 60 buses and 30 chargers within twelve months, and the final 60 buses and 30 chargers within eighteen months. A ten‑day period for complaints has been set, and the agreement will be signed once the complaint process is concluded. This award follows a previously cancelled tender in May after a protest from a competing bidder, marking the second attempt by the Macedonian government to procure electric public‑transport assets.
