Hungary's Integrity Authority head Biró Ferenc Pál faces court removal ruling

The Central Prosecutor's Office has filed criminal charges against Biró Ferenc Pál, the president of Hungary's Integrity Authority, alleging official abuse, falsification of public documents and a series of questionable contracts that may have caused the agency a loss of more than 140 million forints. Under the relevant law, the State Audit Office (ÁSZ) may request termination of his mandate. ÁSZ chairman László Windisch has formally filed a petition with the Budapest Court to decide whether the conditions for dismissal are met. Biró has denied the accusations, describing the proceedings as politically motivated and pledging to prove his innocence before the courts.
