Hungarian Investigation Stalled Over Bomb Found Near Turkish Stream Pipeline
Hungary's prosecutor's office announced that no criminal investigation will be opened into the explosive device discovered on the Turkish Stream gas pipeline because the incident occurred on Serbian territory, which lacks Hungarian jurisdiction. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić informed Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of the find, prompting Orbán to convene a defence council and later send Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó to the border for a press briefing.
The Hungarian authorities stated that Serbian officials have initiated their own proceedings for alleged misuse of explosives and sabotage, and that no Hungarian citizen has been identified as involved. Details of the Serbian investigation remain scarce, and the Hungarian side has requested further information from Belgrade.
