Hungarian leaders meet international Jewish organizations in New York
During the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Hungarian state leadership engaged in high-level meetings with several international Jewish organizations. These discussions included representatives from the World Jewish Congress (WJC), the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the American Jewish Committee (AJC), B’nai B’rith, the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, and the World Jewish Restitution Organization (WJRO).
The meetings focused on Hungary-Israel relations, combating antisemitism, historical responsibility, and fostering cooperation between the Hungarian government and international Jewish bodies. A specific meeting between President András Baka and WJC President Ronald S. Lauder also addressed Lauder’s ties to Hungary and his commitment to education, exemplified by the Lauder Javne School in Budapest. The diplomatic sessions provided a platform for the Hungarian leadership to present its perspectives and for organization representatives to highlight the consequences of antisemitism across Europe.
