Hungarian man remanded in custody after cocaine smuggling attempt at Valencia Airport

A 46-year-old Hungarian national has been remanded in custody after being intercepted at Valencia Airport for attempting to smuggle cocaine inside his body. The suspect arrived on a flight from Brazil that had a layover in Lisbon, Portugal.

Following an abdominal X-ray conducted by the Spanish National Police Drugs and Organised Crime Unit (UDYCO) and the Guardia Civil, authorities confirmed the presence of swallowed narcotic pellets. The man was transferred to a secure custodial wing at the General Hospital of Valencia, where he has remained under police guard while expelling the substances. Reports indicate he has already expelled nearly half a kilogram of cocaine.

A magistrate from Valencia Court of Instruction No. 20 conducted a statement via video link while the suspect was still in the hospital. Due to the significant quantity of drugs and the perceived flight risk, the judge ordered him to be held in custody without bail.
