Hungarian Minister Bálint Ruff calls emergency parliamentary sessions

Minister Bálint Ruff, head of the Prime Minister’s Office, announced the convening of extraordinary parliamentary sessions on 29‑30 June to address a suite of legislative proposals. The agenda includes dissolving the Sovereignty Protection Office, transferring the evaluation of individual drug reimbursement requests to the national health insurer, and adopting a bill to investigate former intelligence agents.

Further measures discussed involve amending the media law, banning hate‑inciting advertising and political ads outside campaign periods, revising the constitution to remove President Tamás Sulyok, limiting parliamentary mandates to twelve years, and reforming the judiciary by allowing the reinstatement of the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice upon a two‑thirds parliamentary vote. The proposals aim to reshape several state institutions and tighten media regulation.
