Hungarian municipalities receive funding for children's leisure facilities in Békéscsaba and Pécs

Under the Competitive Municipalities Program II, the Hungarian government approved a total grant of 203.854 million ft for a consortium of municipalities in the Békéscsaba district. The Békéscsaba city council will receive 100 million ft to maintain the Árpád Spa and municipal swimming pool, ensuring safe operation and services for residents, schools and sports clubs. The project is scheduled to start on 10 January 2026 and finish by 31 December 2027.

In Pécs, the municipal Cultural Centre has launched 32 day‑care and overnight summer camps for children aged 6‑16, covering roughly 600 participants. Director László Csaba said the camps, which run until the end of July, provide supervision, meals and a wide range of activities—from theatre and sports to science and computer workshops—helping working parents during the school holidays.
