Hungarian National Council leader announces new candidate list
Árpád Fremond, President of the Hungarian National Council (MNT) and leader of the Magyar Összefogás list, has announced the candidates and campaign strategy for the upcoming national council elections.
The new candidate list features 35 individuals, 31 of whom are new compared to the previous four-year term. Fremond emphasized a focus on renewal, noting that the average age of the candidates has decreased to 41 from the previous 45–48 range. The selection process prioritized professionals, university graduates, and younger voices to ensure diverse representation within the community.
Fremond noted that several candidates are not members of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians and do not currently hold political office. The campaign strategy is closely tied to the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 25, as Fremond believes a strong presence in Belgrade is essential for the effective functioning of national councils, particularly regarding educational matters. Candidate biographies are already available online, with a formal program expected to be released soon.
