Hungarian National Philharmonic to perform Silver’s Sleeping Beauty
The National Philharmonic Orchestra, alongside the National Choir and an international soloist, will perform a concert-style presentation of Charles Silver’s opera, ‘La Belle au bois dormant’ (Sleeping Beauty), at Müpa Budapest.
Conducted by György Vashegyi, this performance marks the first time the work has been presented in Hungary. The opera, composed by the Russian-born French composer Charles Silver in 1895, is based on the fairy tale by Charles Perrault. Silver, a contemporary of Debussy and Ravel, was a recipient of the prestigious Prix de Rome and studied at the Paris Conservatoire under Théodore Dubois and Jules Massenet.
The production is described as a four-act lyrical fairy play featuring a prologue and an intermission.
