Hungarian officials address government transparency and school infrastructure

Hungarian political figures have addressed issues ranging from government transparency to deteriorating public infrastructure. Bálint Ruff, the Minister leading the Prime Minister’s Office, announced plans to release approximately one hundred former secret decisions and agent files to the Historical Archives of the State Security Services. Ruff also indicated that information regarding the past activities and travels of János Lázár would be made public. Additionally, Ruff criticized the volume of contracts signed under Tibor Navracsics’s ministry and noted that the government paid over 7.6 billion forint to Századvég for studies between January and March 2026.

Separately, Ágnes Forsthoffer, Speaker of the National Assembly, highlighted the poor condition of the Vásárhelyi András Tagiskola in Várpalota. Built in 1981, the school has not undergone major renovations and suffers from dilapidated courtyards, sports fields, and classrooms. Forsthoffer noted that despite the neglected physical environment and accessibility issues caused by a nearby unused youth center, the school community has maintained high academic standards and record enrollment through collective effort from parents and staff.
