Hungarian officials condemn listing of citizens on Mirotvorec website
Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán has condemned the inclusion of Hungarian national football player Milos Kerkez and Fidesz MP Balázs Hidvéghi on the Mirotvorec website. Mirotvorec is a Kyiv-based database established in 2014 that lists individuals deemed “enemies of Ukraine” or pro-Russian.
Milos Kerkez was added to the list following a Nations League match between Hungary and Ukraine in late September. The listing follows a heated on-field incident involving Kerkez and a Ukrainian player, as well as social media activity by Kerkez’s father, who posted a video of the incident set to music by a Russian rap group. Kerkez has denied supporting Russian aggression, stating he was merely defending his teammates during the match.
Minister Orbán noted that she has been in discussions with Ukrainian government officials, the Hungarian Football Federation, and the embassy to resolve the situation. She emphasized that Mirotvorec is not an official state channel of Ukraine and warned against the labeling and potential threats to Hungarian citizens.
