Hungarian parents prioritize quality over price for school electronics

A recent nationwide survey conducted by MediaMarkt and Europion reveals a shift in how Hungarian parents prepare for the upcoming school year. According to the research, 55% of parents plan to purchase technical devices for their children, an increase from 52% the previous year.

The most sought-after items include laptops and notebooks (17%), mobile phones and smartwatches (17%), various accessories such as headphones and keyboards (16%), and tablets (14%). The data highlights the growing importance of digital tools in education, with 48% of surveyed children already using their own smart devices for learning. Additionally, 49% of parents expressed concern that their children might be at a disadvantage without adequate digital tools.

A significant change in consumer behavior was observed: for the first time, product quality and reliability (46%) have surpassed price (previously 54%) as the primary decision-making factor. This trend suggests that families are increasingly prioritizing long-term durability and reliable solutions over lower costs.
