Hungarian Parliament appoints three new NVVH deputy presidents

The Hungarian Parliament has elected three new deputy presidents for the National Asset Recovery and Asset Protection Office (NVVH) to a six-year term. Following the appointments of President Anna Unger and First Deputy President Katalin Tasnádi in September, the legislative body selected Károly Ötvös as deputy president for finance, Árpád Károly Gellért for prosecution, and Tibor Dávid Terhes for appeals.

István Hantosi, chairman of the Justice and Constitutional Committee, stated that the selection process and hearings were conducted behind closed doors to protect the privacy and professional backgrounds of the candidates.

Károly Ötvös, the newly appointed deputy president for finance, has an extensive background in criminal investigations. His career includes work as a clerk for the Kecskemét City Prosecutor's Office, where he was involved in the János Zuschlag case, and several years as an expert investigator for the tax authority's criminal division. His previous experience includes investigating cross-border budget fraud, money laundering, and crimes involving the misuse of public funds.
