Hungarian Parliament debates school start support program
The Hungarian Parliament has debated the implementation of the school start support program following the distribution of the first 50,000 HUF installment to eligible families on August 24. The total support per eligible family is 100,000 HUF, with the final 50,000 HUF scheduled for disbursement on November 30.
Fidesz MP Gábor Szűcs criticized the program, claiming the government has reduced the budget from previously promised levels and that two-thirds of primary and secondary students are excluded from the support. He also noted discrepancies in eligibility criteria between married and divorced parents.
