Hungarian Parliament holds spontaneous commemorations

During a plenary session of the Hungarian Parliament, representatives engaged in spontaneous commemorations that bypassed standard parliamentary procedures. Előd Novák of the Mi Hazánk faction initially called for a moment of silence to honor the Rongyos Gárda, citing their role in the struggle for Sopron following the Trianon decision. This request resulted in only the Mi Hazánk faction and one Fidesz representative standing.

Following this, Péter Magyar addressed the assembly regarding the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács. Despite warnings from the session chair, Anikó Hallerné Nagy, regarding parliamentary rules, Magyar requested a moment of silence for the historical event. This gesture led to all government and opposition representatives standing in a minute of silence. While the act was noted as a moment of national unity, the session chair cautioned that the procedure violated standing house rules.
