Hungarian Parliament to debate judicial and intelligence laws

The Hungarian Parliament is scheduled to debate three significant legislative packages regarding the Constitutional Court, the justice system, and the disclosure of secret service agent files.

One proposal focuses on the full disclosure of intelligence activities from the previous regime and the operations of the Historical Archives of the State Security Services (ÁBTL). The government aims to make previously classified documents more accessible to the public through a new online platform.

Additionally, the Parliament will discuss amendments to the Constitutional Court's operations following the seventeenth amendment to the Fundamental Law. This includes establishing rules for the members of the court to elect its president.

Finally, proposed changes to judicial laws include the removal of online public access to certain court proceedings and the transposition of European Union regulations concerning strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPP).
