Hungarian performing arts groups launch new seasonal productions
The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble is continuing its jubilee season with a new production titled ‘A bor dicsérete’ (In Praise of Wine). Directed by Gábor Mihályi, the performance is scheduled for October 16 at the House of Traditions. Drawing inspiration from the thoughts of Béla Hamvas, the piece explores the profane and sacred meanings of wine through folk dance, traditional music, and contemporary compositions.
In a separate cultural development, the Feledi Project is launching a multidisciplinary series titled ‘Salon de Mouvement’ at the National Dance Theatre, starting October 6. The series aims to create an intimate artistic environment where music, song, piano, prose, and dance interact in a continuous dialogue rather than as separate genres. The inaugural performance, ‘Művészi ölelkező’, will feature actor Máté Járai, pianist Péter Sárik, and dancer Jusztina Bakonyi, focusing on themes of human connection and memory.
