Hungarian photography and folk art exhibitions open across the country

The Műcsarnok in Budapest is hosting a multi‑month showcase of contemporary Hungarian photography, featuring works by Hemző Award winner Karoly Hemző’s heirs and the 2024 national photography salon. Curator Szarka Klára notes that the show “creates a bridge between past, present and future,” while photographer Mohs Zsófia said, “Maybe I was born for this: to connect the past with the present, the small village with the big city.”

In Békés County, the regional library opened the "Élő Népművészet" exhibition as part of the 18th National Folk Art Exhibition. The display presents around 1,200 pieces by South‑Alföld and Vojvodina folk artists, aiming to preserve and transmit tradition. Organizer Pál Miklósné emphasized that “tradition is not a closed past but a continually evolving present.” The exhibit will remain open until 31 July.

Both events highlight Hungary’s effort to celebrate and modernise its cultural heritage through photography and folk art.
