Hungarian police open investigation into 25 billion‑forint Fradi sports complex funding

The Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) ordered a criminal investigation into the financing of the Fradiváros project, a sports complex planned for the former Építők sports site in Budapest.

The probe follows a complaint by the fan group Ferenczvárosi C Közép filed on 5 June, which the State Audit Office (ÁSZ) forwarded on suspicion of misappropriation of the 25 billion‑forint state grant awarded to Ferencvárosi TC in 2016‑2017. The investigation will examine whether the funds were used according to law, especially after a 2022 government decree that allowed the remaining money to be spent on club operating costs. Club president Gábor Kubatov asserts that the entire amount remains with the club, while sport state secretary Attila Kálnoki‑Kiss says the legal interpretation is still under discussion. No further details have been released.
