Hungarian police report high speeding and drunk driving violations

Police in Hungary have reported significant numbers of speeding and driving violations during recent enforcement operations. In Bács-Kiskun County, authorities recorded 1,441 speeding offenses within a single week. Notable incidents include a driver in Kecskemét traveling at 117 km/h on Mindszenti körút, resulting in a 312,000 HUF fine. Additionally, 11 drivers were caught operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol, two of whom were involved in accidents; all had their licenses confiscated.

On the M7 motorway in Somogy County, police identified 382 speeding motorists since September 1. Extreme cases included a driver reaching 183 km/h in a 110 km/h zone and several others exceeding 190 km/h where the limit is 130 km/h. Authorities are emphasizing the dangers of high speeds and impaired driving, particularly as the season for social events increases, urging citizens to prioritize road safety to prevent injuries and fatalities.
