Hungarian police rescue Ukrainian toddler on M1 highway

On July 30, two traffic police officers of the Budapest Police Headquarters responded to an emergency on the M1 motorway near kilometer 15.8. A three‑year‑old Ukrainian boy stopped breathing, his face turning blue. Officers Agócs Roland and Domszky Tamás performed immediate life‑saving measures, including chest compressions and Heimlich manoeuvres, until the child resumed breathing. Ambulance personnel then took the boy, identified as Maksym, to Bókay Children’s Hospital for further care.

The swift and coordinated action of the police saved the toddler’s life, prompting public gratitude expressed on the police’s Facebook page.
