Hungarian political tensions rise over economy and judiciary
Political tensions in Hungary are escalating as the Fidesz faction accuses Péter Magyar and the Tisza government of using political theater to distract from a failing economy. Fidesz claims the administration is ignoring rising unemployment, factory closures, and a decline in construction and investments. They further noted a significant drop in the foreign trade balance, reaching a multi-year low of a 500 million euro deficit.
Separately, security expert Péter Tarjányi has commented on the relationship between politics and the prosecution service following the detention of Balázs Hankó and Miklós Seszták. Tarjányi warned that both Fidesz and the Tisza Party are exerting pressure on the judiciary, describing the two parties as two sides of a coin hitting the prosecution service from both directions. He also rejected comparisons between the current prosecution service and the historical ÁVH.
