Hungarian politicians Bálint Bús and Miklós Seszták remain in pretrial detention

Former Fidesz mayor Bálint Bús and KDNP Member of Parliament Miklós Seszták remain in pretrial detention. Their legal counsel, Dr. Gábor Papp, has characterized the continued detention as unlawful and unjustified.

According to the defense, Seszták has cooperated with authorities since the beginning and voluntarily presented himself to the prosecution. The lawyer noted that the prosecution did not appeal against the lack of flight risk or concealment risk, yet the court maintained the strictest coercive measures based on alleged connection systems.

Regarding Bús, the defense argues that his established lifestyle and family ties make the risk of fleeing the country implausible. The legal proceedings have drawn significant political attention, with former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán previously suggesting that the investigations might be intended to extract incriminating testimony.
