Hungarian prosecutors file charges in separate fraud and drug cases
The Békéscsaba District Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against four men, including one resident of Romania, for defrauding an elderly couple. The suspects, who lack professional qualifications, allegedly targeted the couple by offering gutter cleaning and repair services. After replacing a 17.4-meter section of guttering, the suspects demanded 790,000 HUF, later reducing the price to 600,000 HUF. The victims, both over 80 years old, reportedly handed over 250,000 HUF in cash before the suspects attempted to persuade them to withdraw more money from a bank.
In a separate case, the Kaposvár District Prosecutor's Office has charged a man in his thirties with drug trafficking. The indictment alleges that between July 2025 and January 2026, the individual sold marijuana and crystal drugs to adults and minors in the Kaposvár area. One minor reportedly paid for drugs using stolen perfume from a local drugstore. Following his arrest, police seized drug paraphernalia and various substances. The prosecution is seeking imprisonment and the confiscation of assets gained through illegal activities.
