Hungarian Speaker Ágnes Forsthoffer criticizes László Kövér
Hungarian Parliament Speaker Ágnes Forsthoffer has accused former Speaker László Kövér of hate speech and irresponsibility following his recent televised remarks.
During a Hír TV interview on October 23, Kövér stated that supporters of the Fidesz and Tisza parties share almost no common values regarding democracy, the rule of law, the nation, and the legacy of the 1956 Revolution. When asked why they do not celebrate together, Kövér remarked, “let a few hungry Bengal tigers celebrate with them.”
Forsthoffer responded via social media, stating that the comments “cross all boundaries of human dignity” and cause significant harm to society, particularly during the anniversary of the 1956 Revolution. She argued that despite political differences, Hungarians are connected by their shared humanity and daily cooperation, citing examples such as doctors, officials, and service workers interacting regardless of party affiliation.
