Hungarian summer festivals showcase music, history and folk arts

In Nagyatád, the traditional St. John's summer celebration returned on June 20 with a medieval‑themed program that featured Turkish coffee, period weapons, live music by the Bordó Sárkány band and a dance‑hall lit by torchlight.

Békéscsaba’s Csabai Nyár season, running from June to late October, offered a wide range of cultural activities, including outdoor concerts, the Napsugár puppet‑theatre festival, a national folk‑art exhibition, and performances by local and regional musical groups throughout July and August.

On August 9, Budapest’s Sziget festival hosted the Bródy Dalok Day concert, a five‑hour tribute to songwriter János Bródy. More than 50 artists performed his hits in new arrangements, with ticket prices of 19,990 forints.
