Hungarian Summer Travel Surge Highlights Safety Risks on Croatian Roads

Hungarian travel agencies report a strong increase in demand for the 2026 summer holiday season. Prices for all‑inclusive flights and package tours are 10‑15% higher than last year. Popular destinations include Croatia, Italy, Greece and Turkey, with many families choosing organized trips or bus departures from Szombathely. Agencies also note a growing interest in self‑booked domestic stays, while the Balaton area sees price competition with overseas beach holidays.

At the same time, Croatian police warned travelers after a 54‑year‑old Slovakian woman had her handbag, containing personal documents and cash, stolen from a motorhome at the A1 highway Draganić rest area. The loss exceeded €1,300. Authorities say thieves are using new methods to target the high volume of foreign tourists during the summer and advise keeping valuables out of sight and securing important items while on the road.
