Hungarian Tennis Federation disputes Panna Udvardy claims
A dispute has emerged between Hungarian tennis player Panna Udvardy and the Hungarian Tennis Federation (MTSZ) following her exclusion from the national team for the Billie Jean King Cup play-offs against the United States.
Udvardy, currently ranked 83rd in the world, expressed frustration on social media, stating she was notified of her omission only five minutes before the official team announcement without prior personal communication. She claimed she had adjusted her tournament schedule to remain available for the team and criticized the federation for a lack of support and respect.
Attila Sávolt, the MTSZ sports director, refuted Udvardy’s assertions, stating her claims do not reflect reality. Sávolt noted that Udvardy has only been fully available to the national team in 2022, citing an 8 million forint support contract as a factor for her participation that year. He also mentioned that she received 11 million forints in financial support from the federation between 2021 and 2022, and argued she did not utilize the resources provided by the National Tennis Center like other players.
The Hungarian women's team for the November matches in Florida will consist of Anna Bondár, Dalma Gálfi, Amarissa Tóth, Adrienn Nagy, and Fanny Stollár.
