Hungarian theaters announce new seasons and leadership changes

Major Hungarian theaters have announced their upcoming seasons, highlighting new leadership and diverse productions.

Radnóti Színház is entering its 2026-27 season with a restructured artistic direction. Director Adél Kováts announced the formation of a new artistic council, which includes newly appointed artistic director Péter István Nagy and Balázs Benő Fehér. The theater is focusing on youth engagement and has expanded its company with new members such as Dorottya Gellért, alongside several guest performers and interns. The season's motto is derived from the production ‘Hűtlenek’.

Katona József Színház is launching its 44th season with several key premieres. Notable productions include ‘Parallax’, a collaboration with Proton Színház and Kornél Mundruczó, which explores multi-generational identity. Other highlighted works include ‘Rekviem’, which addresses social and political themes, ‘Kasimir és Karoline’ by Ödön von Horváth, and a reimagining of Anthony Burgess’s ‘A Clockwork Orange’ titled ‘Gépnarancs’.
