Hungarian tourism reaches record numbers in Croatia
Hungarian tourism in Croatia has reached a historic milestone, breaking all previous records. By the end of September, 834,000 Hungarian tourists had recorded over 4 million overnight stays in the country, representing a 12 percent increase in visitor numbers and a 10 percent increase in overnight stays compared to the same period in 2024.
The Kvarner Gulf remains the most popular destination, accounting for 1.2 million overnight stays, followed by Istria with 860,000 and Zadar County with 660,000. Notably, Dubrovnik saw a 44 percent increase in popularity, supported by direct flights from Ryanair and Wizz Air. Regarding accommodation, nearly half of Hungarian visitors opted for private accommodations, while approximately 30 percent stayed in hotels and 20 percent in campsites.
Beyond the coastline, the Gorski Kotar mountain region is emerging as a significant destination for nature enthusiasts. This area offers diverse wildlife, including bears, wolves, and deer, and features locations such as Risnjak National Park and Fužine. The region is positioned as an ideal spot for hiking and cycling, located approximately a four-hour drive from Hungary.
