Hungarian municipal summer day camps offer free activities for children

The city of Sopron will run its municipal summer day camp for primary‑school children in 2026, providing a fully funded programme where participation is free and parents only cover meals. Activities on the second day included balloon games, board games, logic puzzles, craft workshops, a visit to Nagycenk, a number‑battle in the Elisabeth Garden and a cinema trip.

In Veszprém, the municipal day‑camp celebrated its 20th anniversary, running a four‑week programme at Deák School beginning 6 July. The camp costs 6 500 HUF per day (about 32 500 HUF per week) and includes three meals and a range of activities such as trips to Balatonfüred, theatre visits, sports, crafts and community games. Mayor Gyula Porga visited, bringing cake and meeting the children.

Both camps aim to provide safe, affordable childcare for working families, offering structured, educational and recreational activities throughout the summer break.
