Hungarian tractor sales surge while Romanian car registrations slump

In June 2026 Hungary's tractor market more than doubled its new‑machine sales compared with the same month a year earlier, with 359 tractors sold – a 101.7% increase. Claas was the top brand with 60 units, followed closely by John Deere and Solis, each delivering 47 units. Overall, 1,614 tractors were sold in the first half of the year, up 94.5% from the previous year, and spending on new agricultural equipment rose 44% year‑on‑year.

Meanwhile, Romania's car market experienced a sharp decline in July 2024, especially in Szatmár County where registrations fell 39% to just 58 new vehicles, far below the national drop of 28.2%. Dacia remained the best‑selling brand, while hybrid models from Toyota saw modest demand. Electric vehicle registrations were minimal, with only three new EVs registered in the county. The majority of the 673 cars placed in circulation were used‑vehicle imports, continuing the region's reliance on the second‑hand market.
