Hungarian transit services receive digital upgrades

New digital developments are enhancing public transportation accessibility and efficiency in Hungary.

In Budapest, the BKK has updated the BudapestGO application to include a feature that advises passengers on which part of a metro train to board. This function aims to optimize travel by helping users reach exits or transfer to other lines more quickly. The update also supports accessibility by recommending train sections closest to elevators for users planning barrier-free routes.

Separately, the Okosjárat system, developed by FlexCom Kommunikációs Kft., is working to integrate rural bus services into Google Maps. This initiative aims to provide digital passenger information for smaller Hungarian settlements that operate local bus lines but lack the resources to maintain independent transit apps. The system has already been implemented in Orosháza, with plans to expand to approximately 50–60 other municipalities across the country.
